Standard delivery option for the week commencing 5th January 2009.
We advise that customers use the Gold Delivery service to ensure
that deliveries arrive on time. We apologise for any inconvenience

relating to the couriers we use below, and restrictions that may be
imposed.Before placing your order, please check the information

UK Delivery Charges
Standard Delivery is charged at £4.95 per recipient for weekday
delivery and our Gold Delivery is charged at £6.95 for next day or
a specified date. Saturday delivery is charged at £6.95 and is
not a guaranteed service.
Standard Deliveries
If you place your order using Standard Delivery, you can expect to
receive it within 3-5 working days. Standard deliveries will be
despatched on the date of the order being placed unless after 11am
(after this time goods will be despatched on the next working day
Monday to Friday). This service cannot be used for advanced dates.
Tracking is available 72 hours after despatch. The first day of the
3-5 days starts the next working day following despatch.
(Monday-Friday) Goods may be left without a signature in a secure
location at the driver’s discretion.
Orders placed after 11am on a Friday with a greeting card will not
be despatched until the following Tuesday.
Gold Delivery
Gold Delivery is a next day/specific day service Monday-Friday by
courier between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm. Gold delivery
Orders received before 4.00 pm online (5pm via call centre) can be
delivered next day on Monday - Friday basis. Orders placed after
4.00 pm on Friday online (5pm via call centre) will not be
processed or despatched until the following Monday. Greeting cards
will be despatched with orders unless placed after 2pm (after 2pm
cards will be despatched on the next working day Monday - Friday)
We require a signature for delivery, so please ensure that there is
someone to accept delivery during working hours. If no one is
available to accept delivery, or if goods become unsuitable as a
result of non-delivery we cannot accept liability. The courier
should leave a "calling card" at the recipients address and it then
becomes the recipients responsibility to contact the courier
company to re-arrange a suitable delivery time and date.If you know
your recipient is not at home during working hours, we recommend
that we deliver to a business address.
Saturday Deliveries
We operate a Saturday delivery service for limited items to be
despatched by Royal Mail. Saturday deliveries although charged at a
premium rate are not guaranteed. Please allow until the following
Wednesday morning before you contact us as these orders are
despatched with Royal Mail.
Monday Deliveries
We reserve the right not to offer Monday delivery, should we feel
that due to the weather conditions, it would be detrimental to
store perishable products with our couriers over the weekend.
Change/Amend Orders
If you wish to amend or change your order it may not be possible on
the day of despatch.Please contact us on 0845 121 1911.
Tracking your Gold Delivery Monday - Friday
Tracking your Gold Delivery Monday - Friday www.FedEx.com/ukservices A proof of delivery will be available from 9am the
following Morning. Unfortunately we are currently unable to track
Saturday deliveries(with the exception of flowers).
Flower Deliveries
We only deliver flowers to mainland UK addresses by our Gold
Delivery Service. Should you wish to order additional items not
included in our bouquet gift combinations, an additional delivery
charge will be incurred as these items will be despatched under
separate cover. NB: Greetings cards are also sent under separate
cover. For further information please contact us on 44 (0)845 121
1911. We will be happy to advise you. We do not recommend that you
send flowers to postcodes listed in the below list. We are also
unable to accept orders for delivery on Bank Holidays or the day
following the Bank Holiday. All of our bouquets require a signature
upon delivery.Flower deliveries on a Saturday will delivered by
Royal Mail Special delivery and can only be left at the address
given . N.B. Please note that additional delivery instructions will
not apply on Saturday deliveries. All of our floral bouquets are
seasonal in nature and again we reserve the right to substitute
them for an alternative bouquet of equal or greater value.

Jersey and Channel Islands
The following areas/postcodes have a 2 day delivery schedule
Northern Ireland/Scotland/Highlands/Isles of Scilly/Isle of
Man
We regret that we cannot offer a next day delivery service to
Northern Ireland, Scotland, Scottish Islands, Isles of Scilly, Isle
of Man. (See delivery times on chart below) These are based on the
Gold delivery option.
Out of area postcodes
Please be aware that delivery to certain UK postcodes will take
longer due to their remote locations. The following table details
postcodes affected together with estimated delivery times. We
cannot be held responsible for delays as a result of sending to
these destinations: We strongly recommend that the Gold delivery
service is used for these area, Standard delivery will take
longer than the normal 3-5 working days.
The Republic of Ireland and Jersey and Channel
Islands are considered to be outside the UK and come under our
International Deliveries section below.
Thorntons will deliver to the reception/post room/security areas at
these addresses accepting a signature from a duly authorised
representative at the business/hospital. Our standard delivery
option does not allow delivery to business addresses. If you are
wishing to deliver to a business address please select the Gold
delivery option. Please check with hospitals that they will accept
the items you have ordered, Hospitals do not permit flower
deliveries to Intensive Care Units, however some hospitals will
place flowers outside the ward for the benefit of visiting
families. Some hospitals refuse products to minimise risk of
infections.
We will deliver to an address and postcode as you enter it and
cannot accept liability for late or failed delivery due to an
incorrect address. If you are unsure of an address or postcode,
please check it using the Post Office address finding
service.
We can send as many products as you wish up to 20 kilos total
weight for one delivery charge. This is limited to 5 kilos via the
web for international deliveries but you can call us on 44 (0) 845
121 1911 for orders exceeding this weight. NB .Due to the nature of
some products additional delivery charges may apply.
International deliveries can take up to 5 working days and we
regret that we cannot guarantee delivery on specific dates. Please
ensure that the full address and telephone numbers are given when
placing your order. We do not send Alcohol, Ceramics or Flowers
overseas. We have no control over the temperature during transit
and upon arrival abroad. We cannot accept responsibility for melted
products
Maximum Weight
The maximum parcel weight for international delivery is 5kg gross.
Should you wish to send items in excess of this limit, please
contact us on 44 (0) 845 121 1911 during working hours to discuss
your requirements.
Hot Countries
We do not recommend shipping perishable products to hot countries
as we have no control over the temperature during transit and upon
arrival abroad. We cannot accept responsibility for melted
products.
Customs Charges
It is possible that Customs outside the UK may impose additional
import duties and Customs charges. These are levied at the port of
ingress and we cannot therefore predict if they will be charged and
are unable to influence if and how these may be levied. The
recipient will be responsible for these charges as levied. We
constantly monitor the individual countries Customs Policies and
reserve the right to decline any orders to countries that we have
concerns relating to the safe delivery of your gift, or countries
that are likely to impose restrictive duties.
US Food & Drug Administration
Due to new legislation from the US Food and Drug Administration
relating to the importation of any food product into the USA we are
obliged to submit additional pre-approval to the FDA for each
delivery we make to the US. A (£6.00) charge for this documentation
will be levied on every parcel or shipment sent. We regret that we
are obliged to pass this cost across to you the customer.
